Men's Basketball Downed by Morrisville St., 88-86

Morrisville, NY -  Down by two points, the Abington men's basketball team held the final possession at against Morrisville State, but a miss layup sank the Nittany Lions as they fell 88-86, Sunday afternoon.

Abington continues to search for its first win in February as the Nittany Lions drop to 7-16 overall and 6-10 in the NEAC.  The Mustangs improve to 9-13 and 6-9 in conference.

Dequan Jackson (Philadelphia, Pa) and Max Alton (Pennington, N.J) led Abington, as both registered 22 points for the afternoon.

During today's game Jackson hit a career milestone of 1000 points in his collegate career. During his freshman year at Penn State Scranton, Jackson racked up 569 points and this year he currently has 441 giving him 1010 as a sophomore.

The Mustangs had the hot hand, hitting 61% of their shots from the floor and 48% from behind the arc. Abington were able to hang in by forcing 25 turnovers converting 35 points off of turnovers.

In the first half the Mustangs opened on a 15-2 run and kept the pressure on the Nittany Lions as they walked into halftime up 44-36. Abington clawed back to within a point, but clutch free-throws from Morrisville State sealed the victory.

Abington will look to break their losing streak at home against Wilson College, Wednesday at 8:00 PM.
