Men’s Basketball Cruises Past Wilson, 115-81

Abington, Pa.- The Penn State Abington men's basketball team halted their six-game losing streak Wednesday night, as they defeated the Wilson College Phoenix by a 115-81 score.

Devin Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.) would have himself a night to remember.

A good layup from the aforementioned Jones at the 9:54 mark of the first half would give Abington a 24-18 lead.

A pair of good free throws from Jones at the 2:07 mark of the first half would give Abington a 15 point lead at 45-30. The Nittany Lions would take a 51-37 lead into half.

Jones recorded 24 points in the first half on 8-of-8 shooting while collecting 10 rebounds. Dequan Jackson was second among all Abington players in the first half with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting.

In the second half, Abington's dominance over Wilson would continue. A three-pointer from Max Alton (Pennington, N.J.) at the 10:34 mark of the second half would extend Abington's lead to 33 points.

Jones paced Abington on the night tallying a career-high 35 points on 12-of-12 shooting from the floor. Jones also collected 15 rebounds. Dequan Jackson scored 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting, and Max Alton recorded 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Spencer Bartron (Camden, Del.) had 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting off the bench.

The 115 points scored was the most points scored by the Nittany Lions since joining the NEAC in 2011. Abington scored 113 points in a double-overtime victory over Penn State Harrisburg on January 27, 2013. They also recorded 113 points against then SUNY IT back on January 15, 2012.

Abington returns to action this Friday, February 20th, as they square off against Penn College in what will be Senior Night for Max Alton and Alex Agyedu. Game time is scheduled 8:00 p.m.
