Abington, Pa.- The Penn State Abington women's basketball team picked up their 18
th win of the season Wednesday night, as they defeated Wilson College by a 70-15 margin.
The Nittany Lions would dominate the game from start to finish as Abington jumped out to a 14-2 lead ten minutes into the game.
Abington would take a commanding 36-10 lead heading into the locker rooms.
Elizabeth Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.) was 4-of-9 from the field in the first half. In total, she registered 15 points in the opening 20 minutes to lead all scorers.
Jessica Schmidt (Elkins Park, Pa.) was second among all Abington players in the first half with 7 points on 3-of-4 shooting.
The Nittany Lions would continue to control the play of the game throughout the second half.
Jones would finish the game with a career-high 24 points on 7-of-13 shooting. She was also 4-of-5 from three-point range.
Jessica Schmidt (Elkins Park, Pa.) recorded 21 points on 10-of-13 shooting.
Abington (18-4, 15-3 NEAC) shot 48.1% (26-for-54) from the field for the game. In total, the Blue and White picked up 32 rebounds and shot 42.9 % from beyond the arc.
Abington returns to action this Friday, February 20th, as they square off against Penn College in what will be Senior Night for
Jessica Schmidt and
Stephanie Keyes. Game time is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start.
