Lancaster, Pa. - The Penn State Abington men's basketball team suffered a setback Wednesday night, as they fell to Lancaster Bible 94-68.
Abington would start out well as they jumped out to an early 15-8 lead just five minutes into the game. Lancaster Bible would go on a 7-0 run mid-way through the first half to take a 21-19 lead.
Lancaster Bible's Albert Suniga would hit a three-pointer at the 6:53 mark of the first half to extend the Chargers lead to 10 points. Abington would head into the locker rooms down 45-35.
The Nittany Lions were just 13-of-35 (37.1%) from the field in the first half. Lancaster Bible was 14-of-31 (45.2%) during the first 20 minutes of play.
After the break, Lancaster Bible went on a 12-2 run to begin the second half extending their lead to 57-37. A layup from Lancaster Bible's Luke Roundy with 6:59 remaining extended the Chargers lead to 19 points at 78-59.
Lancaster Bible was simply too much for Abington Wednesday night.
Max Alton (Pennington, N.J.) led Abington with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting.
Dequan Jackson (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Alex Agyedu (Bensalem, Pa.) scored 15 and 10 points respectively.
Devin Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded 10 rebounds in the game.
Abington (7-11, 6-5 NEAC) finished the game 25-of-64 (39.1%) from the field. They struggled from beyond the arc hitting just 25.0% of their shots on 5-of-20 shooting.
Abington will return home this Saturday, February 7th, as they play SUNY Poly. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
