CORTLAND, NY - Behind a four goal performance from
Chasidy McLaurin (Philadelphia, Pa) and
Michaela Mast (Pottstown, Pa), the Abington women's lacrosse team rolled past Wells College for the victory, 15-8, on Saturday evening in Cortland, New York.
The Nittany Lions climb to the top of the standings and remain undefeated in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) at 2-0 and improve to 3-3 overall. The Express drop their opening game of the season at 0-1.
McLaurin and Mast were aided in a great performance by senior attack,
Katelyn Haas (Lower Moreland, Pa.), as she netted three goals and recorded three assists.
Defensively, freshman
Corey Pecuch (Newtown, Pa.), tallied her first win of the season in goal, making 10 saves on 28 shots.
Wells opened scoring in the first three minutes of the contest, but Abington dominated the rest of the half and outscored the Express 9-3 in the first half.
In the second half, Wells slowed Abington down but remained outscored by a 6-5 margin.
Abington will continue its road trip with an afternoon match at Keuka College, slated for a 1:00 p.m. start.
