Camden, N.J.- The Penn State Abington softball team dropped one game and tied another Wednesday afternoon against Rutgers-Camden.

The Nittany Lions lost 8-0 in five innings in game one of the doubleheader, and then tied game two 5-5.

In game one, Abington's bats were stifled by the pitching of Brittany Scott. Scott limited the Nittany Lions to just one hit over five innings of work while striking out five. Â

Rutgers-Camden would jump ahead early, scoring two runs on two hits in the bottom of the first inning. The Scarlet Raptors would then score five runs on six hits in the bottom of the third inning to take a commanding 7-0 lead.

Whitney DeLagol (Warminster, Pa.) had the lone hit for Abington in game one.
Â
In game two, Abington would jump out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.

With
Emily Mattes and
Breanna Lineman (Philadelphia, Pa.) on base,
Greta Sheridan (Horsham, Pa.) would hit a single to left field scoring Lineman.
Nicole Battaglio (King of Prussia, Pa.) would then single to left field scoring both Sheridan and Mattes to give Abington a 3-0 lead.

Rutgers-Camden would cut the Nittany Lion lead to 3-2 in the bottom half of the fifth inning as they scored two runs on two hits with one error in the inning.

Danielle Jones (Levittown, Pa.) would extend the Abington lead to 4-2 with her RBI groundout to the pitcher in the top of the sixth inning, and
Melissa Craig (Westville, N.J.) would single home
Breanna Lineman in the top of the seventh inning to give Abington a 5-2 lead.

The Scarlet Raptors would rally in the bottom of the seventh inning as they scored three runs on four hits off of
Emily Wrenn (Hatboro, Pa.) to tie the game at 5-5.

Overall, Wrenn went seven innings and gave up 10 hits while striking out one. Â Â Â

Abington (2-1-1, 0-0 NEAC) will travel to Gallaudet this Saturday, March 28th. Game one is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. with game two scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
