Baseball Can't Hold on Against Rutgers-Camden, 4-3

CAMDEN, NJ – The Abington baseball team held a late lead against Rutgers-Camden, but an 7th inning rally by the Scarlett Raptors gave the Nittany Lions their ninth loss of the season, losing 4-3.

Abington drops to 2-9 for the season outside of conference play.

The Nittany Lions were led by senior Tom Ditro (Philadelphia, Pa.) going 2-of-4 with a double, one run and an RBI.

In the first inning Abington got on the board first with a Ditro RBI single to center field. The Nittany Lions unsettled the pitcher by stealing three bases in the inning, including Matt Meyers (Cheltenham, Pa.) stealing home to take a 2-0 lead in the first.

The Scarlett Raptors added two runs to the board in the 2nd and 5th inning but Abington would take back the lead in the 6th inning off a Max German (Newtown, Pa.) triple to left field, leading 3-2.

Rutgers-Camden was able to add two more runs in the 7th inning to put the game out of reach for Abington.

Next the Nittany Lions will take the diamond Friday against The City College of New York at 3:00 p.m.  at Alverthorpe Park.
