Baseball Defeated by Rowan, 11-1

Glassboro, N.J.- The Penn State Abington baseball team dropped a non-conference game to Rowan University Tuesday afternoon by a margin of 11-1.

Abington got behind the eight ball early as Rowan had back-to-back innings of three and four runs each to take a 7-0 lead into the top of the third inning.

Tom Ditro (Philadelphia, Pa.) got the nod on the mound for the Nittany Lions. Ditro gave up nine runs and 13 hits over six innings of work and took the loss for Abington.

Rowan would tack on runs in both the bottom of the third and fifth innings to extend their lead to 9-0.

Abington would cut the Rowan lead to 9-1 in top of the seventh inning.

After Matt Meyers (Cheltenham, Pa.) struck out swinging, Tom Ditro doubled to right field. Max German (Newtown, Pa.) would reach first base on an error by the Rowan shortstop which then allowed Ditro to score.

The Abington offense as a whole could only register two hits against four different Rowan pitchers.

Abington (2-10, 0-0 NEAC) will return to action this Friday, April 3rd as they host the City College of New York. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Alverthorpe Park in Jenkintown, Pa.
