Morristown, N.J.- The Penn State Abington softball team continued NEAC play Saturday afternoon with a pair of games against the College of St. Elizabeth.

Abington took game one 9-5 and outlasted the Eagles 8-4 in game two.

Abington jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks to the long ball.
Â
Danielle Jones (Levittown, Pa.) led off the game with a solo homerun. After
Whitney DeLagol (Warminster, Pa.) struck out,
Breanna Lineman (Philadelphia, Pa.) went deep to give Abington a 2-0 lead.

Emily Mattes (Middletown, Pa.) would then single bringing
Sheila O'Hagan (Willow Grove, Pa.) to the plate who hit a two-run homerun for the 4-0 Abington lead.
Greta Sheridan (Horsham, Pa.) was up next and she too went deep to give the Nittany Lions a 5-0 lead.

Abington extended their lead to 7-0 in the top of the second inning as both Lineman and Mattes had RBI singles in the inning.

The Eagles made things interesting in the bottom of the fifth inning when they scored four runs on four hits to cut the Abington lead to 7-4.

Abington would tack on two runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a commanding 9-4 lead.

Emily Mattes, and
Breanna Lineman all had three hits in game one.
Emily Wrenn (Hatboro, Pa.) got the win for Abington going seven innings while giving up five hits.

In game two, Abington jumped out to a 1-0 lead courtesy of
Breanna Lineman's RBI single in the top of the first inning.

The Eagles would respond with runs in the bottom of the first and third innings to take the 2-1 lead.
Â
Michalea Drogalis (Croydon, Pa.) and
Nicole Battaglio (King of Prussia, Pa.) both had RBI's in the top of the fourth inning to give the Abington a slim 3-2 lead.

Abington would widen their lead in the top of the fifth inning with
Emily Mattes providing the big hit.
Â
After Lineman's RBI single made it a 4-2 game, Mattes had a two-run double that extended Abington's lead to 6-2.
Greta Sheridan tacked on an RBI single of her own to make it a 7-2 game.

Danielle Jones was 4-for-4 at the plate in game two, and
Breanna Lineman was 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI's.

Jennifer Rakita (Langhorne, Pa.) got the win for Abington as she scattered 11 hits and struck out three over seven innings of work. Â Â Â

Abington (10-5-1, 8-4 NEAC) will return to action this Tuesday, April 14, as they travel down the road to Glenside to take on Arcadia University. Game one is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. while game two is slated to begin at 8:00 p.m.
