Glenside, Pa.- The Penn State Abington softball team split a pair of games against non-conference opponent Arcadia University Tuesday evening.
Abington dropped game one 4-1, but rebounded nicely with a 3-0 victory in game two.
Abington could only muster four hits total against Arcadia starter Erin Wilson in game one.
Greta Sheridan (Horsham, Pa.) was 2-for-3 in game one with one RBI.
Jennifer Rakita (Langhorne, Pa.) went five innings for the Nittany Lions scattering six hits while striking out five Arcadia batters.
In game two, Abington outhit the Knights 5-3.
The Blue and White would score runs in both the top of the second and third innings to take a 2-0 lead. Abington would tack on an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Greta Sheridan was 3-for-3 in game two with a double.
Breanna Lineman (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Nicole Battaglio (King of Prussia, Pa.) each collected RBI's in the game.
Emily Wrenn (Hatboro, Pa.) got the win for Abington giving up just three hits over seven innings of work. Wrenn walked zero batters while striking out five.
Abington (11-6-1, 8-4 NEAC) will return to action this Thursday, April 16, as they host Albright College in a non-conference game. Game one is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. with game two slated to begin at 5:00 p.m.
