Softball Swept By Albright

Abington, Pa.- The Penn State Abington softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games Thursday afternoon to the Albright College Lions.
 
Abington lost game one 8-2, and faltered in game two 6-4.
 
In game one, Abington could only muster three hits off of Albright starter Sammi O'Connor. O'Connor went seven innings while striking out nine Abington batters.
 
Sheila O'Hagan (Willow Grove, Pa.) and Whitney DeLagol (Warminster, Pa.) each had RBI's in the game.
 
In game two, Albright jumped out a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning before Abington responded in the bottom of the first.
 
Danielle Jones (Levittown, Pa.) reached base on an error by the Albright shortstop. Greta Sheridan (Horsham, Pa.) flied out to right field then Breanna Lineman (Philadelphia, Pa.) singled to left field.  
 
Sheila O'Hagan then hit a three-run homerun to center field to give Abington the 3-1 lead. It was the first homerun at the new Huntingdon Field.
 
Albright would respond in the top half of the fifth inning with a five run inning to take a 6-3 lead. Abington would tack on run in the bottom of fifth inning to cut the Albright lead to 6-4.
 
The Nittany Lions couldn't muster another run off of Albright's  pitcher Sammi O'Connor. O'Connor went 5.1 innings giving up just two hits while striking out six.
 
Abington (11-8-1, 8-4 NEAC) will return to conference play this Saturday, April 18, as the Nittany Lions host the College of St. Elizabeth. Game one is scheduled for noon with game two slated to start at 2:00 p.m.
