Abington, Pa.- The Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team dropped a conference matchup Sunday afternoon against Bryn Athyn College, 9-5, on senior day.
Abington managed five goals in the game with two coming from
Katelyn Kelly (Springfield, Pa.) and two from
Michaela Mast (Pottstown, Pa.).
Bryn Athyn was led by Kaitlyn Brock as she had five goals in the game. Emma Gross added three goals of her own for the Lions.
Bryn Athyn would get on the board first at the 19:39 mark of the first half as Kaitlyn Brock netted her first of five goals. The Lions would take a 2-0 lead a little over a minute later as Emma Gross scored.
Michalea Mast would get Abington on the board at the 11:00 minute mark to cut the Bryn Athyn lead to 2-1.
Bryn Athyn would tack on two more goals before the first half ended, and
Katelyn Kelly would score on a free position attempt to pull Abington to within a 4-2 margin at half.
Bryn Athyn would score four unanswered goals after the break to take an 8-2 lead. Abington would respond with three unanswered goals of their own to cut the Lions lead to 8-5.
A goal from Bryn Athyn's Kaitlyn Brock at with 4:22 remaining sealed the victory for Bryn Athyn.
Before the game, Abington honored three seniors who are graduating in May.
Breanne Kradzinski (Philadelphia, Pa.),
Katelyn Haas (Lower Moreland, Pa.), and
Kate Schalck (Warminster, Pa.) were all recognized for their dedication to the Abington program.
Haas will leave Abington having the most goals, points, assists, caused turnovers, groundballs, and free position goals in the program's history.
Abington (4-6, 3-3 NEAC) will return to action this Tuesday, April 21, as they will host Keuka College. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Memorial Field.
