Women’s Lacrosse Falters Against Medaille

Buffalo, N.Y.- The Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team fell to the Medaille College Mavericks by a 20-6 margin Friday evening in western New York.

Abington scored six goals in the game with three coming from Chasidy McLaurin (Philadelphia, Pa.), who now has 19 goals on the year.

Michalea Mast (Pottstown, Pa.) added two goals of her own, and Kate Schalck (Warminster, Pa.) tallied her seventh goal of the season.  

Medaille was led by Emily Brophy who had eight goals and two assists in the game. Kaylie Bauer and Mackenzie Berger each tallied hat tricks for the Mavericks.

Medaille netted the first two goals of the game before McLaurin scored at the 18:42 mark of the first half on a free position attempt to cut the Mavericks' lead to 2-1. Medaille would score four unanswered goals to take a 6-1 lead.

The Blue and White cut the Medaille lead to 6-2 as Schalck scored with 10:30 remaining in the first half. Medaille would score two more times before the half ended, and McLaurin would score her second goal of the game with 5:04 remaining in the first half.

Medaille took an 8-3 lead into the break.

The Mavericks dominated the second half tallying 12 more goals while only allowing three against. The Blue and White had 20 shots total in the game with 12 of them on goal.

Corey Pecuch (Newtown, Pa.) made 10 saves for the Nittany Lions.

Abington (4-8, 3-5 NEAC) will close out the regular season tomorrow, as they travel to Marcy N.Y. to square off against SUNY Poly. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
