Softball Splits With Wilson

Chambersburg, Pa.- The Penn State Abington softball team split a pair of conference games against the Wilson College Phoenix Saturday afternoon.
 
Abington took game one 8-3, but fell in game two 9-2.
 
The Nittany Lions jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Breanna Lineman (Philadelphia, Pa.) had an RBI single that scored Danielle Jones (Levittown, Pa.).
 
The Phoenix would strike back in the bottom of the first inning scoring two runs off of Abington starter Emily Wrenn (Hatboro, Pa.) to take a 2-1 lead.
 
Abington would take the lead for good in the top of the third inning as Jones homered to tie the game at 2-2, and Lineman had an RBI single scoring Whitney DeLagol (Warminster, Pa.) to give the Nittany Lions a 3-2 lead.
 
Lineman's hot streak at the plate continued in the top half of the fifth inning as she homered to give Abington a 4-2 lead. Abington would tack on three runs in the top half of the sixth inning to take a commanding 7-3 lead.
 
Wrenn, who picked up her sixth win of the season, went seven innings while striking out three. Lineman was 3-for-4 in the game with three RBI's. Nicole Battaglio (King of Prussia, Pa.) was 1-for-4 at the plate with two RBI's.
 
In game two, Abington had trouble generating offense against Wilson starter Morgan Newell.
 
Lineman opened up the game with a solo homerun to give Abington a 1-0 lead. The Phoenix would respond with a seven run fourth inning to take a commanding 8-1 lead.
 
Michaela Drogalis (Croydon, Pa.) took the loss for Abington. She scattered 10 hits in just 3.1 innings of work.
 
Abington (17-10-1, 11-5 NEAC) will have a chance to redeem themselves tomorrow as they host the very same Wilson College Phoenix. Game one is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. while game two is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
