Softball Defeated by Penn State Berks in Game Three of the NEAC Tournament

Reading, Pa.- The Penn State Abington softball team loss to rival Penn State Berks Saturday morning by a 12-4 margin in five innings.

Abington would jump out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning, as Breanna Lineman (Philadelphia, Pa.) homered to left field.

With Sheila O'Hagan (Willow Grove, Pa.) on base, Ashley Quenzer (Philadelphia, Pa.) singled up the middle scoring O'Hagan to give Abington the 2-0 lead.

Danielle Jones (Levittown, Pa.) would also collect an RBI in the inning pushing the Abington lead to 3-0.

Berks would respond right back in the bottom of the second inning with four runs to take a 4-3 lead. After Abington failed to score in the top of the third inning, Berks tallied four more runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a commanding 8-3 lead.

Lineman would tack on another RBI in the top of the fifth inning to cut the Berks lead to 9-4, but the Berks offense was too much for Abington to overcome.

Lineman was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI's. Michaela Drogalis (Croydon, Pa.) took the loss for Abington as she gave up eight runs on seven hits in 2.1 innings pitched.

Abington committed five errors in the game.
