GWYNEDD VALLEY Pa – Down one set, the Abington women's volleyball team (3-3) rallied to force a fifth game and battled to a 3-2 win over Gwynedd Mercy (1-5), Thursday night.
Sam Amaro (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the Nittany Lions with 14 kills and 15 digs for the evening. Freshman
Catherine Zhushma (Warminster, PA) recorded a season high 33 digs, just shy of cracking the top 10 for the Penn State Abington individual match record.
In the first game, the Nittany Lions battled to a 25-22 victory behind a pair of service aces from sophomore
Danielle Dyjak (Abington, Pa.). The Nittany Lions finished off the Griffins with a 5-3 run, giving them a 1-0 lead.
Gwynedd Mercy would take the next two games 25-16 and 28-26. Â In game three Abington would hold a 21-12 lead, but an amazing comeback powered by Brianna Greer gave the Griffins the edge.

Breanna Lineman (Philadelphia, Pa.) for its third win of the season.
The Nittany Lions will host Goucher and Summit University for the first home tri-match of the season on Saturday September 12, at noon.
