HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA.—The Penn State Abington men's cross country team placed three runners in the top 10 en route to capturing the team title at the fourth annual Penn State Abington Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning at Lorimer Park.

Senior Alex Kane paced the Nittany Lions on the hilly 8K course with a time of 29:30.1, good for second place out of 52 competitors. The Nittany Lions edged runner-up and North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Gallaudet by just two points (53-55) to take top honors in the team standings for the second straight year.

Freshman Yannik Cahnbley placed fifth overall with a clocking of 31:52.0 while sophomore Billy Donovan improved his time on the Lorimer course by a staggering 2:44 with a time of 32:04.4, good for eighth overall. Rounding out the scorers for Penn State Abington were freshmen Alek Clementson (33:10.2, 15th) and Minaam Ahmed (35:00.4, 23rd). Sophomore Jeremy Castro placed 35th, crossing the finish line in 39:19.7 for Abington.

Gallaudet newcomer Otto Kingstedt was the top overall male finisher and set a new course record in the process with a time of 27:28.3, a 5:32/mile pace. Kingstedt eclipsed Kane's course record from his freshman year (29:05, 2012).

Penn State Berks took third place in the team standings with 67 points, while Lancaster Bible College was fourth (92), Penn College was fifth (116), Cumberland County College was sixth (130) and Bryn Athyn College was seventh (154).

After the race, the Penn State Abington coaching staff and administration recognized senior Alex Kane for his contributions to the men's cross country team. Kane is the most decorated runner in the history of the men's cross country program. He is a four-year letterwinner and three-time all-conference honoree. Kane was named NEAC Runner of the Year in 2012 and 2014 and was the 2012 NEAC Rookie of the Year.

Freshman Megan Glanz set the pace for the Penn State Abington women's cross country team, running a 7:19/mile pace as the top individual finisher amongst 50 competitors at the fourth annual Penn State Abington Cross Country Invitational Saturday at Lorimer Park.

Glanz (22:41.4) is the third Penn State Abington runner in as many years to win the individual championship; teammate Valerie Santangelo took top honors each of the past two seasons. Glanz was one of four Nittany Lions to finish in the top 10 as Abington took second place out of eight teams on the day.

Santangelo, a junior, crossed the finish line fourth overall with a time of 23:44.9 while senior Gina Montgomery took seventh in 26:39.7. Sophomore Haley Burns clocked a time of 27:14.3, good for 10th, while sophomore Jenina Santos rounded out the Nittany Lion scoring contingent with a 17th place finish (28:04.4). Freshman Inga Kaltak ran 18th for the Nittany Lions in 29:30.4.

North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Lancaster Bible College captured the team title with 31 points, eight ahead of Penn State Abington. Bryn Athyn College (102) edged Penn State Berks (107) for third place, while Gallaudet University was fifth (122), Penn College finished sixth (148) and Wilson College placed seventh (153). Cumberland County College did not record a team score but had two representatives in the race.

After the race, the Penn State Abington coaching staff and administration recognized senior Gina Montgomery for her contributions to the women's cross country team. Montgomery is a four-year letterwinner and three-time all-conference performer for the Nittany Lions. She ran a personal best time of 24:19.1 at the 2014 NEAC Championship.

Penn State Abington returns to action Saturday, September 26 at the Long Short Invitational hosted by Dickinson College at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa., the site of the 2015 NCAA Regional Meet.
