ABINGTON, Pa – Behind two goals from
Emily Kennedy (Montgomeryville, Pa.) the Penn State Abington women's soccer team (2-0) continued its unbeaten season with a 2-1 win over Neumann University (0-4) Wednesday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions outshot the Knights 15-6 and placed 9 shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Samantha Friend (Philadelphia, Pa.) stopped three shots on the afternoon.
In the first half Kennedy recorder her first goal of the season after steaking past the defense and hit her shot to give Abington a 1-0 lead in the 16
th minute. The lead was shot lived when Neumann equalized in the 20
th minute on a goal from Jamie King.
Abington pressed hard for another goal but couldn't pull ahead in the 77
th minute when Kennedy cut past the keeper for an easy winning goal.
The Nittany Lions return to action when they travel to Arcadia on Saturday September 12, with kickoff slated for 4:00 p.m.
