Nittany Lions Winning Streak Snapped by Gallaudet 66-54

WASHINGTON,  DC - Freshman Shayna Rodriguez (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded 22 points for the Penn State Abington women's basketball team, but Gallaudet earned their second win over the Nittany Lions this season with a 66-54 victory, Wednesday evening. The Bison snapped a four game win streak for the Blue and White.

Abington falls to fourth in the NEAC South Standings with a 10-3 overall record and 6-3 conference record.

A closely contested first quarter saw the lead change between both teams 10 times, but Gallaudet held the slight edge behind their solid shooting from the floor.

In the second period Abington trailed for the first four minutes until Brittany Keyes (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) hit her shot from three to give Abington the slim margin. The Bison answered a 12-7 run to end the first half.

Defense dominated the third period, with 11 turnovers between both teams. Rodriguez chipped away at the Bisons' lead by hitting her shots from the field for eight of the Nittany Lions 12 third quarter points.

A layup from Madison Kimball (Jenkintown, Pa.) gave Abington the lead with seven minutes in the fourth quarter but the Bison were able to close the game on a 19-5 run for the victory.

The Nittany Lions were led by Rodriguez, with 22 points and three steals, while on the boards Kimball scooped up 12 rebounds.

The Nittany Lions will look to rebound when they travel to Bryn Athyn College on Saturday January 30, at 3:00 p.m.
