Jackson Leads Nittany Lions to Win in Overtime Thriller

ABINGTON, Pa. – Down by 15 points in the first half, the Penn State Abington men's basketball team was able to rally to a thrilling 83-76 win over Wilson in overtime on Thursday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions continue their success in the North Eastern Athletic Conference with a 2-1 record in conference and 2-8 overall record.

A sluggish start to the first half saw the Phoenix take an early 19-4 lead out of the gate. The Nittany Lions were able to claw their way back in the final eight minutes of the contest. Senior Devin Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.) spurred the offense with a steal that he put away for the dunk, only down 29-17.

Yusef Savage (Philadelphia, Pa.) started and 8-3 run when he blocked a shot, picked up the loose ball and drove it down the court for the layup. The Nittany Lions closed the half down 35-30.

In the second half, Abington opened on a 6-1 run to finally catch up to their first half deficit.  At the 16 minute mark, Savage drove to the hoop to draw the foul and sunk the layup and the free throw to give the Nittany Lions their first lead of the game.

Both teams battled back and forth with the lead changing four times in the final ten minutes. With two minutes remaining, the Pheonix held a four point lead until clutch free throw shooting from Momolu Dorley (Trenton, NJ) cut the lead to 67-65. Fresh off his game winning shot against Gallaudet, Savage took a rebound and put it in the bucket with 59 seconds remaining to tie the game and send it into overtime.

Junior Dequan Jackson's (Philadelphia, Pa.) eight points in overtime were enough for the Nittany Lions to put away the Phoenix.

Jackson led all shooters with 25 points, while both Savage and Jones recorded double-doubles in points and rebounds.

The Nittany Lions will look to continue their winning ways when they travel to undefeated Lancaster Bible College (8-0) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
