ABINGTON, Pa. – After being held goalless in the first half, the Penn State Abington women's soccer team broke through with three second half goals to defeat SUNY Cobleskill 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions Improve to 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.
The Fighting Tigers were first on the board with a goal in the 20
th minute, but the Nittany Lions pressured with 15 shots fired, but couldn't find the back of the net.
In the second half sophomore
Shayna Rodriguez (Philadelphia, Pa.) spurred the rally with her first goal of the season in the 59
th minute to tie the match at one.
Minutes later, freshman forward
Haley Miller (Hatfield, Pa.) netted her fourth goal of the season to give the Nittany Lions the 2-1 advantage.
Miller completed the brace when she scored her second goal only a minute later, to push the game out of reach for the Fighting Tigers.
The Nittany Lions will play their final home game of the season tomorrow when they host SUNY Poly tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. Abington will honor
Jennifer Cifuentes (Bensalem, Pa.),
Michelle Latronica (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Greta Sheridan (Horsham, Pa.) for their final season with the Blue and White.
