ABINGTON, Pa. -Â Two goals from sophomore
Shayna Rodriguez (Philadelphia, Pa.) aided the Penn State Abington women's soccer team to a 3-0 shut out over SUNY Poly on Sunday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions continue to improve with a 7-4 record overall and 6-2 mark in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.
Michelle Latronica, (Philadelphia, Pa.),
Jennifer Cifuentes (Bensalem, Pa.) and
Greta Sheridan (Horsham, Pa.) were all honored on Senior Day for their contribution to the program.
Rodriguez kicked off the scoring in the 12
th minute of the contest when she fired her first shot that ricocheted off the post, but then followed it up and put it into the net for the first goal of the game.
Later in the first half, Latronica placed a perfect pass that split the defense. Rodriguez beat the defender to the ball and placed it top shelf for her third goal of the season and second of the game.
Early in the second half Latronica notched a goal of her own on a beautiful run of play from her and Rodriguez to give the Nittany Lions a 3-0 lead.
Abington will kick off a tough road trip when they travel to Morrisville State on Saturday October, 8 at 1:00 p.m.
