MORRISTOWN, NJ – Senior
Sam Amaro (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit a historic achievement with her 1000 career kill in the NEAC crossover this weekend. The Nittany Lions split the series starting with a 3-0 loss to Gallaudet University, and cruised to a 3-0 win over Wilson College to wrap up day one.
Abington moves to 12-7 for the season and 4-4 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.
In game one the Bison charged out to a 25-15 win in the first set. Abington put up a fight in the second set, but fell just shy with a 25-21 loss. Gallaudet clinched the match in the third set with a 25-20 decision.
The Nittany Lions rebounded in the second match of the day with an easy an easy 25-13 win in the first set. Abington continued its domincance in the second set with a 25-8 win, and closed out the match with a 25-14 win in the third set.
Amaro led the attack with 21 kills for the day and
Maddi Richard led in digs with 22 between both matches.
Abington will finish the crossover tomorrow against the hosts the College of Saint Elizabeth at 2:00 p.m. then travel home for an evening night cap against Bryn Athyn at 7:00 p.m.
