ABINGTON, Pa. –
Sam Amaro (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit another milestone today, as the senior recorded her 1000
th dig in her career on Sunday afternoon. Abington won its first game 3-1 against the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, then traveled home to defeat Bryn Athyn 3-0 Sunday evening.
Amaro is second all-time in digs behind Victoria Lohman.
The Nittany Lions earned the first set against the Eagles with a close 25-23 decision. In the second set Abington cruised to a 25-15 victory, but the Eagles won the third set 25-20 to hold off the Nittany Lions. Abington closed out the first match with a 25-20 win in the fourth set.
In the nightcap, Abington jumped out in the first set to take a 25-20 win and followed it up with another 25-18 victory. In the final set, Abington finished off Bryn Athyn with a 25-20 decision.
Amaro led the Nittany Lions with 28 kills between both games, and earned 35 digs for the day. Freshman
Isabel Hoch (Philadelphia, Pa.) made her mark at the libero with 39 digs.
The Nittany Lions will be back in action when they host Valley Forge on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
