ABINGTON, Pa. –  Down two sets, the Penn State Abington women's volleyball team rallied with three consecutive wins to earn a stunning 3-2 victory over Valley Forge on Tuesday night.
The Nittany Lions improve to 15-7 for the season after tonight's victory.
In the first set the Patriots and Nittany Lions dueled, but Valley Forge came out on top with a 25-20 win. The Patriots continued to streak with a confident 25-12 win in the second set. After a tough loss, the Nittany Lions came out energized and dominated with a 25-10 decision to make it 2-1 going into the fourth set. Abington continued its momentum with another huge 25-14 victory to push the match to a tie breaking fifth set. The Nittany Lions came out firing in the final set and earned a 15-5 victory to pull off the come from behind win.
Sam Amaro (Philadelphia, Pa.) racked up 20 kills in the match, and sophomore
Maddi Richard (Warminster, Pa.) recorded four service aces and 17 digs.Â
Cori Watson (Souderton, Pa.) aided the team with her 21 assists to energize the Nittany Lions.
Abington will be back in action when they host a tri match between Notre Dame of Maryland and Penn State Lehigh Valley on Saturday at 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. respectively.
