ABINGTON, Pa. - On her senior night,
Sam Amaro (Philadelphia, Pa.) shined with 17 kills in a 3-1 decision over Delaware Valley University on Thursday night. The Nittany Lions continue to their prolific season and have punched their ticket to the NEAC playoffs, to face off against reigning champion Gallaudet.
Abington improves to 20-8 for the season after tonight's win.
The Nittany Lions cruised through the first set with a 25-14 win. In the second set Abington jumped out quickly but the Aggies clawed back to close the gap, although Abington came away with a 25-20 decision. Leading 2-0 the Nittany Lions fell behind Delaware Valley in the third set and dropped a 25-21 loss. In the fourth set the Nittany Lions clinched the match with a 25-21 win.
Amaro was honored for her amazing career with the Blue and White after the second set. Freshman
Isabel Hoch (Philadelphia, Pa.) notched 23 digs for the night, and sophomore
Maddi Richard (Warminster, Pa.) was stellar servingfor the Nittany Lions with six aces on the evening.
The Nittany Lions wrap up the regular season tomorrow when they host Bryn Mawr at 10:00 a.m. and Goucher College at 2:00 p.m.
