ABINGTON, Pa. – Senior
Don Sloan (Boothywn, Pa.)  broke out in a season high 17 points but it wasn't enough to top Rutgers-Newark on Saturday evening. The Scarlet Raiders earned a 65-53 decision over the Nittany Lions to drop them to 3-4 this season.
In the first half the Scarlet Raiders stifled the Nittany Lions holding them to 23% from the floor and only 18 points, a season low.
Rutgers-Newark pushed its lead to 16 points in the second half, but Abington stormed back. Sloan orchestrated a comeback with three shots from downtown, and
Austin Slawter (Philadelphia, Pa.) forced a turnover and took it in for an easy layup. Another three-ball from Sloan cut the deficit to one point, and the Nittany Lions had the chance to take the lead with four free throws, but couldn't convert. The Scarlet Raiders went on a 17-6 run to close out the game.
Abington will be back after the New Year when they travel to Mount Saint Mary College on January 2
nd at 5:00 p.m.
