ABINGTON, Pa.— At the Penn State Abington commencement on Friday December 16, senior cross-country runner Valerie Santangelo was awarded the Legislative Citation Award by Pennsylvania State Representative Madeline Dean for her outstanding career on and off the course.
 
The award is given to a student who has been identified by university faculty and staff as exhibiting leadership, academic success, and involvement on campus.
 
Santangelo was recognized for her excellent academic record, success in the women's cross country program, while giving her time in community service with the Breathing Room.
 
The Penn State Abington Athletic Department is proud to have Valerie Santangelo representing the campus community.
