Savage Leads Abington to Win Over Berks

ABINGTON, Pa. – Senior Yusef Savage (Philadelphia, Pa.) drained 35 points as the Penn State Abington men's basketball team snapped it's losing streak with a 94 – 85 win over Penn State Berks, Wednesday evening.

Abington improves to 4-17 overall and 4-10 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

Savage led Abington in points and in rebounds with 13, while junior Dequan Jackson (Philadelphia, Pa.) added 22 points on the evening.

Berks jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead in the first half, but Abington answered with an 11-1 run to put them on top. Back-to-back jump shots from freshman Momolu Dorley (Trenton, NJ) helped Abington take a commanding 30-19 lead with eight minutes on the clock.  A late 10-5 push by Berks, spurred by a pair of three-point shots, cut Abington's lead going into the break.

In the second half, Abington put distance between Berks with an amazing 22 point half from Savage. Abington held a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half, but Berks rallied with three minutes remaining.  A layup with 30 seconds left from Berks saw the lead for Abington cut to five points. On the next possession Nick Heuser (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit his free-throws to put away the game.

The Nittany Lions will host Cazenovia College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
