ABINGTON, Pa. – Sophomore
Brittany Keyes (Huntingdon, Pa.) scored a season high 23 points in an 87-66 victory over Cazenovia College on Saturday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions remain in contention for the NEAC tournament with a 14-6 overall record and 10-6 in the conference.
Junior
Madison Kimball (Jenkintown, Pa.) earned her second straight double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds, while senior
Mallory Mugnier (Glenside, Pa.) also recorded 17 points and 10 rebounds. Senior
Janaiah Elum (Philadelphia, Pa.) tied a single game record for assists with 11 for the afternoon.
Keyes started with a bang in the beginning of the game draining her shot from behind the arc and helping Abington to an early 10-7 lead. Cazenovia kept pace with the Nittany Lions, but Abington finished the quarter with an 11-4 run for the advantage.
In the second quarter, the Nittany Lion's pushed their lead to 18 points collaborating with another three-point shot from Keyes to give Abington a comfortable edge.
After the break, Keyes continued to dominate, scoring the first 11 points in the second half. The Wildcats finally broke their drought with a jump shot, but Keyes answered with yet another three-point shot pushing the Nittany Lions' lead to 27 in the third period.
Cazenovia outscored the Nittany Lions in the fourth period, but it wasn't enough to overcome.
Abington will return tomorrow to host Morrisville State at 2:00 p.m.
