Nittany Lions Fall Short to Wilson College in Overtime

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team held a 14 point lead at halftime, but the Nittany Lions couldn't hold on against Wilson College, Tuesday night.

The Nittany Lions fall to a 5-19 record overall and a 5-12 mark in conference.

Senior Devin Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the Nittany Lions with 27 points and 12 rebounds for the night.  Yusef Savage (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Dequan Jackson (Philadelphia, Pa.) also recorded 25 and 24 points respectively.

Neither team could gain a lead more than five points, until Jackson spurred an 11-1 run with his shot from downtown and later finished off with a slam dunk by Savage.

The Nittany Lions would lead by as much as 19 points before the Phoenix would close the game with a three-ball right before the half.

In the second half, Wilson came out firing with 11 points in the first three minutes to cut the deficit to single digits.

The Nittany Lions held on to a slim margin thanks to clutch jump shots from Jackson, but the Phoenix came within four points with 12:28 left on the clock.  A 9-2 run for the Nittany Lions pushed their lead back to double-digits under 10 minutes to go in the game.

A 9-0 run for Wilson College  gave the Phoenix momentum and brought them back within striking distance.

With a 75 seconds left on the clock, the Phoenix pushed the game into overtime with a clutch shot from the floor.

In overtime, Wilson pushed the game out of reach for the Nittany Lions with nine made free-throws.

The Nittany Lions will close their season when they travel to Penn College on Friday night at 5:00 p.m.
