ABINGTON, PA. - A second half surge from the Penn State Abington men's basketball team forced overtime, but Bryn Athyn closed out the Nittany Lions 95-87, Thursday night.
The Nittany Lions fall to 3-15 for the year and 3-8 in the conference.
In a closely contested first half the Nittany Lions fell slightly behind, but solid shooting from
Kevin Pacheco (Bound Brook, NJ) aided the Nittany Lions to a 24-24 tie with nine minutes remaining. The Lions would hold the edge at the half after a 12-8 run to go into the break.
Bryn Athyn opened the second half with the hot hand but senior
Devin Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.) helped the Nittany Lions hang around with his shooting from behind the arc.
In the final seven minutes of the contest, the Lions lead never reached more than five points. With one minute remaining in the game,
Yusef Savage (Philadelphia, Pa.) drew a foul and hit both of his free throws to force overtime.
The Lions started overtime on a 10-0 run that shut down the Nittany Lions rally.
Abington will be on the road when they travel to SUNY Poly on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
