Marcy, N.Y – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team traveled to SUNY Poly but came away empty handed, as the Nittany Lions lost to the Wildcats 80-60 on Saturday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions fall to 3-16 overall and 3-9 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.
Freshman
Kevin Pacheco (Bound Brook, NJ) hit a career high 11 points for the Nittany Lions, while senior
Yusef Savage (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the men with 14 points.
The Wildcats came out strong with their first two shots hit from downtown to take the early lead, but junior guard
Dequan Jackson (Philadelphia, Pa.) answered with a three-point shot of his own. The Nittany Lions fell behind by 18 points until
Devin Jones(Philadelphia, Pa.) sparked an 11-1 run to chip away at the Wildcats lead. SUNY Poly finished the half with four free-throws that added to its 43-32 lead going into the break.
In the second half, the Wildcats opened with the first six points to push their lead back to double-digits. Abington battled back but never came within 15 points of SUNY Poly in the second half.
The Nittany Lions will look to rebound when they travel to SUNY Cobleskill tomorrow, with tip-off slated for noon.
