Rally Falls short for Men’s Basketball at SUNY Cobleskill

COBLESKILL, N.Y – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team came from 12 points down in the second half, but the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill held on for a 66-63 win over the Nittany Lions, Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions fall to 3-17 overall and 3-10 in the NEAC.

Senior Devin Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.) racked up 27 points and scooped 10 rebounds this afternoon for his fifth double-double of the season.

The Fighting Tigers took the early lead and held it until the final minute of the first half. Jones drew a foul and sunk two free-throws giving the Nittany Lions a one point advantage.  Cobleskill closed out the first half with a 7-0 run to hold the lead going into the break.

In the second half, the Fighting Tigers picked up where they left off with a 12-3 in the first few minutes of play. Cobleskill pressed their lead to 17 points, but a three-ball from senior Yusef Savage (Philadelphia, Pa.) sparked a run that put the Nittany Lions within two points with three minutes left on the clock. Dequan Jackson (Philadelphia, Pa.) brought the game to a tie with two free-throws in the final two minutes, but the Nittany Lions couldn't find a way to win.

Abington will return to action when they host rival Penn State Berks on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m.
