Flemington, NJ - The Penn State Abington baseball team traveled to New Jersey for the first of two games in the Garden State. Â The Nittany Lions faced off against Rutgers-Newark at Diamond Nation and fell to the Scarlet Raiders 11-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions dropped to 0-3 out of the conference.

Junior Trey Guaglionona (Abington, Pa.) led Abington, as he went 2-of-3 with two singles and a walk for the game.

The Scarlet Raiders opened the scoring with a grand slam home run to give them a 4-0 lead.

With two on and two out in the top of the third inning, sophomore Pat Fitzgerald (Warrington, Pa.) hit an RBI single to left field to put the Nittany Lions on the board.

Rutgers-Newark went on to score seven unanswered runs for the win.

The Nittany Lions will stay in New Jersey for their game against Rutgers-Camden tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.
