Baseball Falls to SUNY Canton, 10-5

ABINGTON, Pa.- The Penn State Abington baseball team faced SUNY Canton for a rematch of its Clemente Cup opponent, but the Nittany Lions fell to the Roos 10-5, Friday afternoon.

Abington falls to 4-9 on the season.

Sophomore Matt Meyers (Cheltenham, Pa.) led the Nittany Lions as he went 2-of-4 with two RBIs. Max German (Newtown, Pa.) also recorded two hits and scored two of Abington's five runs.

In the second inning the Roos struck first with a solo shot to center field.

With bases loaded for the Nittany Lions in the fourth inning, Max Perilstein (Cheltenham, Pa.)  drew a walk to even the game at 1-1.

The Roos broke the deadlock with a two-run home run to left field in the top of the fifth inning. Abington answered in the bottom half of the inning with a two run single from Meyers.  Perilstein added another run with an RBI single to shallow left field.

SUNY Canton would add another five runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a two run double to deep left field.

A solo shot for the Roos in the seventh inning would put the game out of reach for the Nittany Lions.

Abington returns to the diamond tomorrow when they host Elmira for a doubleheader at 12:30 p.m.
