JENKINTOWN, Pa. – The Penn State Abington baseball team hosted Elmira College on Saturday afternoon. Abington dropped both games, as the Soaring Eagles took game one 6-1, and shut out the Nittany Lions in game two, 8-0.
Abington falls to 4-11 for the season.
In game one, both teams had dominate pitching, and freshman
Tyler DiPatri (Pedricktown, NJ) opened the scoring for the Nittany Lions with an RBI single in the second inning.
Sophomore
Matt McDonough (Abington, Pa.) put in seven solid innings on the mound and only gave up two earned runs in the game. Â Elmira jumped out to a lead in the top of the seventh inning, aided by multiple fielding errors.
The Soaring Eagles earned 15 hits in game two and held the Nittany Lions to five hits.
Abington will look to rebound on Friday March 25 when the Nittany Lions host a doubleheader against the City College of New York at 1:00 p.m.
