ABINGTON, Pa. - The Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team opened their season hosting Lycoming College, but the Warriors had the upper hand as they defeated the Nittany Lions 22-1, on Wednesday afternoon.

The young squad saw 10 freshman hit the field for the Nittany Lions. In goal freshman Jill Varriano (Staten Island, NY) made nine saves for the afternoon.

The Nittany Lions lone goal came from Molly Wyman (Abington, Pa.) in the first half. Â The junior midfielder drove into the crease and placed her shot for her first goal of the year.

Abington look to bounce back when they host non-conference Bryn Mawr on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
