KEUKA PARK, NY – The Penn State Abington baseball team started its road trip on a high note with a sweep of Keuka College on Saturday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions improve 14-17 and 4-2 in the conference.
In game one the Nittany Lions capitalized on two mistakes from Keuka College to score three runs in the fourth inning. A double from
Max Perilstein (Cheltenham, Pa.) to left center field drove in two more runs to give the Nittany Lions a 5-0 lead.
Kueka College tried to rally with a run in the sixth and seventh inning, but the Nittany Lions put the game out of reach with three runs off two doubles from Perilstein and
Anthony Pletscher (Hatfield, Pa.) in the eighth inning.
Matt McDonough earned his fourth win of the season with a solid performance on the mound. The sophomore pitcher only allowed four hits with seven strikeouts as he went all nine innings.
In game two, the Nittany Lions and Wolfpack battled to a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning. The Nittany Lions offense exploded in the sixth inning with three runs scoring on mistakes from the Wolfpack. Pletscher capped the inning with a two run shot to put the game out of reach.
Abington continues its road trip when they travel to Penn College for a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon with first pitch at noon.
