Baseball Earns Sweep over Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Penn State Abington baseball team wrapped up its road trip with another series sweep over Penn College on Sunday afternoon. The Nittany Lions took game one 8-4, and earned a 6-4 victory in game two.

The Nittany Lions improve to 16-17 for the season and 6-2 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

Greg Mugnier continued his strong season on the mound coming out of the bullpen to earn a win and a save in the doubleheader.

In game one the Nittany Lions capitalized on the erratic pitching performance with four runs scored on wild pitches throughout the game.

Junior pitcher Rob Diamond (Bensalem, Pa.) worked a solid eight innings on the mound with seven strikeouts and only four runs for his third win of the season.

Penn College took an early lead in game two, but the Nittany Lions rallied to a 6-3 lead off of nine hits in the final three innings of the game.

The Wildcats tried to rally, but Mugnier closed out the contest with two strikeouts to put away the host.

Abington will finish its non-conference slate at New Jersey City University on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
