READING, Pa. – The Penn State Abington softball team looked for revenge after being swept earlier in the season by Penn State Berks, but the host edged Abington in two close games. Down 4-0 in game one, Abington's rally fell short as they lost to Berks 6-5.  Abington held a slim margin in game two, but fell 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
Abington's eight game win streak was broken, falling to 15-13 overall and 7-5 in the conference.
Penn State Berks started game one with the first four runs, but Abington took one back with a double from
Greta Sheridan (Horsham, Pa.) to make it 5-2 in the fifth inning. A home run from Berks extended the lead to 6-2. Abington rallied late with three runs in the sixth and seventh inning, but they couldn't get the tying run across the plate.
In game two, Abington were first on the board in the first inning with an RBI single from
Breanna Lineman (Philadelphia, Pa.) and later capitalized on a throwing error from the second baseman. Berks chipped away at the lead and pulled ahead with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.
Abington look to rebound on the road at Wilson College on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
