ABINGTON, Pa. – Senior
Chasidy McLaurin (Philadelphia, Pa.) netted five goals but the Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team fell to Wells College 12-9 on Saturday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions honored seniors
Kathryn Kelly (Springfield, Pa.),
Rebecca Nutt (Langhorne, Pa), McLaurin,
Mallory Mugnier (Glenside, Pa.),
Valerie Corcoran (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Cara Fiala (Philadelphia, Pa.) in their final season of women's lacrosse.
Abington falls to 2-11 and 1-6 in the conference.
The Express were first on the board, but McLaurin answered back with a goal only moments later. Micheala Mast (Pottstown, Pa.) spurred a three goal run to give the Nittany Lions a 4-2 lead in the first ten minutes of play. The Express ended the half with two more goals to tie the game 4-4, at the break.
Wells College opened the second half with four of the first five goals but McLaurin added her third goal of the game to cut the lead to 9-6. Both teams would trade goals but
Molly Wyman (Abington, Pa.) tried to rally the team with her second goal of the year but the Nittany Lions couldn't catch the Express.
Abington will host Keuka College tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
