ABINGTON, Pa. -Â A late goal from
Michaela Mast (Pottstown, Pa.) gave the Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team an 11-10 lead in the final ten minutes. The Nittany Lions could not hold on, as the Keuka Wolfpack won a 12-11 decision on Sunday afternoon.
Abington drops to 2-12 for the season and 1-7 in the conference.
The Wolfpack opened the game with a three goal tear, but Abington battled back, as
Mallory Mugnier (Glenside, Pa.) stole momentum with a goal assisted by
Sarah Eisele (Langhorne, Pa.).Â
Chasidy McLaurin (Philadelphia, Pa.) notched her first goal of the game to cut the lead. Sydeny Forshay gave the Wolfpack a bump with under three minutes left in the game, but Mast converted a free position attempt to cut the lead to 4-3 going into the break.
In the second half, Keuka opened with the first goal, but
Molly Wyman (Abington, Pa.) answered with her third goal of the year. Mast tied the game at the 24:33 minute mark. Keuka pulled ahead by three goals with 18 minutes left in the game. Senior
Cara Fiala (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored her first career goal as a defender to shift momentum for the Nittany Lions. Mast went on a three goal streak to give the Nittany Lions the lead in the final five minutes of the game. The Wolfpack tied the game with two minutes remaining, and a goal with 34 seconds left gave Keuka the edge to win.
Abington will travel to the College of Saint Elizabeth for its final game of the season on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
