Baseball Splits Series with Lancaster Bible

JENKINTOWN, Pa. – Home runs from Anthony Pletscher (Hatfield, Pa.) and Dante Millilo (Philadelphia, Pa.) aided the Penn State Abington baseball team to a series split with Lancaster Bible College. The Chargers took game one in ten innings 9-6, but Abington held onto a win in game two 6-5 on Friday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions move to 10-15 overall and 1-1 in conference.

The Chargers and Nittany Lions were deadlocked in a back and forth game, but the Nittany Lions tied the game in the eighth inning. With two runners on base Ted Smallwood (Athens, NY) drove a hard ball to second base that allowed a run past the plate.

Lancaster Bible loaded the bases in the top of the tenth inning and scored three runs to earn their first conference win of the season over Abington.

In game two, the Nittany Lions jumped out to a lead in the third inning with a solo shot from Millio, his first of the year.  Abington added another two runs in the inning highlighted by a double from Max German (Newtown, Pa.).

Pletscher knocked his second home run of the year to give the Nittany Lions a 5-0 lead. Later in the inning Trey Guaglionona capitalized on a throwing error from the catcher to score Abington's sixth run of the game.

The Chargers threatened in the sixth inning with five runs, but Smallwood got out of the inning with a strikeout.

Abington will travel to Reading to face Penn State Berks on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
