Latronica’s Hat Trick Powers Nittany Lions Past Wilson, 5-0

ABINGTON, Pa. – A first half hat trick from junior midfielder Michelle Latronica (Philadelphia, Pa.) aided the the Penn State Abington Nittany Lions in a 5-0 shutout of Wilson College on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions improve to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

Latronica earned an early goal in the 7th minute, when Nicole Baldassarre (Warminster, Pa.) played a ball back to Latronica and fired her shot past the keeper to the left post.

Minutes later, McKayla Baum (Philadelphia, Pa.) got on the board when she finished her shot low to the right post for a 2-0 lead in the 12th minute.

In the 31st minute, Latronica lined a shot that hit the bottom of the crossbar and bounced into the goal before the goal keeper could make the save for her second goal of the game.

Latronica finished her hat-trick when she cut through two defenders and placed her shot in the net in 41st minute to give the Nittany Lions a 4-0 lead.

Coming out of the break Haley Miller (Hatfield, Pa.) finished off the scoring with her first goal of the season in the 46th minute.

Abington will return to the field when they host Gallaudet University tomorrow at noon.
