ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team hosted Ursinus College looking to continue its streak, but the Bears topped the Nittany Lions 3-1 on Thursday evening.
Abington drops to 9-4 for the season.
Ursinus struck first with a win in the first set with a 25-18 decision, but Abington roared back to tie the match as they earned a 25-18 victory of its own. The Bears held the edge in the third set with a 25-16 win. Abington fell early in the fourth set, but the Nittany Lions clawed their way back to bring the score down 23-22 with momentum shifting in their favor. But the Bears held off the Nittany Lions and sealed the match with a 25-23 win in the fourth set.
Sophomore
Maddi Richard (Warminster, Pa.) had a phenomenal game defensively with 32 digs and senior
Sam Amaro (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the attack with 12 kills on the evening.
Abington will be back in action when they host the NEAC crossover on Saturday afternoon. Game one against SUNY Cobleskill will start at noon, and Abington will face off against SUNY Poly at 4:00 p.m.
