ABINGTON, Pa. – Two goals from sophomore
Hernando Villamil (Philadelphia, Pa.) aided the Penn State Abington men's soccer team to its first win of the season with, a 3-0 victory over Hunter College.
The Nittany Lions move to 1-1 to round out their non-conference slate.
In the 8
th minute
Richard Domico (Langhorne, Pa.) flew down the right wing and lined a perfect cross to Villamil who headed the ball home.
Junior
Thomas Vessels (Jenkintown, Pa.) scored his first career goal when took advantage of a loose ball from a corner kick and placed his shot in the net.
In the second half, freshman
Chris Schlegel (Philadelphia, Pa.) l connected with Villamil on a perfect give-and-go to spring him into a breakaway against the keeper. Villamil faced the keeper one-on-one and won the battle with a cool finish for the third goal of the game.
Defensively
Jose Arroyo (Puerto Rico) put on an impressive display as he kept a clean sheet and parried away 11 shots on the net.
Next Abington will face off against its NEAC rival Lancaster Bible, at Memorial field on September 7, at 4:00 p.m.
