Sloan Sparks Come From Behind Win over Keuka 95-85

ABINGTON, Pa. – Down 18 points in the second half, senior Don Sloan (Philadelphia, Pa.) kicked off a rally to force overtime in a 95-85 win over Keuka College on Sunday afternoon. The Nittany Lions improve 6-9 overall and 5-5 in the conference.

Sloan hit a career high seven shots from downtown, and scored 22 points, while freshman John Ryan (Warminster, Pa.) added another 22 points for the day.

The Nittany Lions had a sluggish first half, with the Wolves jumping out to a 12 point lead in the first few minutes. Abington was cold on the floor with only 33 percent shooting, and went into the half down 14 points.

In the first three minutes of the second half, the Wolves continued their hot streak and pushed the lead to 18 points in solid control of the game. Sloan gave the Nittany Lions life with three pinpoint shots from downtown to cut the deficit to five points.  The Wolves pushed ahead to another double-digit lead, but minutes later Sloan notched two consecutive shots from behind the arc tied the game for the first time. The Nittany Lions held a two point lead with under 10 seconds remaining and with one tick left, Sam Brown tied the game to force overtime.

Abington controlled overtime with clutch free-throw shooting and another three-pointer from Sloan sealed the game.

The Nittany Lions will host Spirit and Staff Appreciation Night on Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. when they face off against the College of Saint Elizabeth.
