ABINGTON, Pa. – A huge performance from NEAC Student Athlete of the Week
John Ryan (Warminster, Pa.) helped the Nittany Lions cruise to a 102-91 win over the College of Saint Elizabeth on Wednesday night. The Nittany Lions improve 7-9 and 6-5 in the conference to keep ahead of the Eagles in the NEAC standings.
Ryan had another dominate performance with 24 points and
Austin Slawter (Philadelphia, Pa.) followed right behind with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Junior captain
Kenny Bey-Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) fell just shy of his season high with 22 points.
Both teams were on fire after tip-off with the Nittany Lions hitting 5-of-6 shots to open the game, and the Eagles coverted 4-of-4 in the first three minutes of action. The Eagles kept the game close and took the lead in the 13
th minute. In the final seven minutes of the half the Nittany Lions went on a 22-10 tear capped off by a three-ball from
Vincent Luciano (Philadelphia, Pa.) before the break.
After the break the Eagles cut the double-digit lead, but a huge push by the Nittany Lions saw them up 19 points after the first five minutes of the half. The Eagles tried to keep pace and rally, but clutch free throw shooting for the hosts put away their hopes.
Abington will travel to face off against Bryn Athyn College on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
