CAMDEN, NJ – In their final nonconference match of the year the Penn State Abington men's soccer team traveled to Rutgers-Camden, but fell 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. Abington drops to 4-6 overall for the season.
In the first half the Nittany Lions tested Rutgers-Camden goalkeeper James Brett early forcing four saves before the Scarlet Raptors scored off a long throw in that was banged in by the left post. With only a few minutes left on the clock Rutgers Camden added another goal to its total when Skyler Diggs flicked in his shot off the corner kick.
Coming out of the break, the Nittany Lions pressed the Scarlet Raptors and cut the lead when
Dmitri Bourlako (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) netted his goal assisted by
Chris Van Pelt (Doylestown, PA). After the goal Rutgers Camden clamped down defensively and only allowed one shot for the rest of the game.
The Nittany Lions continue on the road when they travel to New York to face Keuka College next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
